Our Partners are a highly experienced team of strategy, corporate finance and private equity professionals around our founders, Arndt Rautenberg and Jens Moritz. As well as driving the overall business, they also take an active role in each of our projects – usually working in teams of two.

Arndt Rautenberg

Arndt Rautenberg

Managing Partner

Arndt is the founder and Managing Partner of Rautenberg Moritz & Co. and heads up our Düsseldorf office. He has vast experience in advising financial investors and their portfolio companies as well as corporations. His special expertise is in strategy development and value creation as well as in corporate finance and M&A.

He started his professional career in 1994 at Boston Consulting Group, after completing his studies of business administration at WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management and at Georgetown University. In 2000, he and two partners founded a technology investment and advisory firm which they later successfully sold to Sapient, a NASDAQ-listed technology corporation based in Cambridge, USA. After several years as an executive board member of Sapient, Arndt was appointed Chief Strategy Officer of Deutsche Telekom, where he was responsible for both the group’s strategy development as well as the portfolio management. Since leaving in 2008, Arndt has focused on advising financial sponsors and strategic investors in all phases of a transaction.

Jens Moritz

Jens Moritz

Managing Partner

Jens is co-founder and Managing Partner, heading the Frankfurt office of Rautenberg Moritz & Co. He is a very seasoned private equity professional and has many years of experience in all phases of the principal investing business – from executing buyouts and minority investments to the development of portfolio companies and the structuring and management of successful exits.

Upon the completion of his studies in business administration at Philipps University in Marburg in 1995, Jens started his professional career in the auditing arm of Coopers & Lybrand / PwC. In 1999, he moved on to private equity and joined BdW Beteiligungsgesellschaft für die deutsche Wirtschaft (Dresdner Bank Group). After several successful years with the private equity arms of two regional state banks (“Landesbanken”), he joined EQT Partners where he led the Frankfurt office and was the partner in charge of the German, Austrian and Swiss activities of the firm’s expansion capital fund. After six years with EQT, Jens moved to Rautenberg Moritz & Co. in April 2014.

PHILIPP v. HOCHBERG

Managing Partner

Philipp is a Managing Partner of Rautenberg Moritz & Co and works out of our Frankfurt office. For more than 20 years, he has advised family-owned companies and their shareholders, private equity houses, entrepreneurs and managers on M&A transactions and financing. His major focus is on transactions in the industrial sector such as machinery & equipment and industrial goods as well as in consumer goods/retail.

Philipp holds a graduate degree in economics from the University of Bonn. Alongside his studies in economics, he also studied political and historical science. As an advisor to principals, Philipp is an entrepreneur himself; for more than 12 years, he was shareholder and Managing Partner of C H Reynolds Corporate Finance AG, which he established with his co-founders in the German M&A market. Earlier positions in his career include Doertenbach & Co. in Frankfurt, Ernst & Young in Berlin. Philipp co-founded the M&A specialised transaction boutique Bassewitz & Hochberg in Frankfurt who merged with us in 2018.

Gero Steinröder

Gero Steinröder

Partner

Gero is a Partner in our Düsseldorf office. He has vast expertise in developing and executing growth-oriented value creation initiatives as well as strategic transformations for both smaller companies (including start-ups) and larger corporations.

Gero studied engineering and business administration at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Queen’s University (Canada) and the Asian Institute of Technology (Thailand). In addition, he holds an MBA with distinction from Kellogg School of Management (USA).

Gero started his professional career as a strategy consultant with Booz Allen Hamilton, mainly advising clients from the telecoms, media, high-tech and digital industries. He then joined Nokia Venture Organization to successfully grow a mobile internet venture, before ramping up the newly created Nokia Consumer Data & Analytics function. After co-founding Numerus Capital, a privately held quantitative hedge fund, he joined us in 2015. Today, he predominantly advises technology clients on strategic and financing topics as well as in transactions.

Gerd Bassewitz

Gerd Bassewitz

Senior Advisor

Gerd is Senior Advisor to Rautenberg Moritz & Co. He has many years of experience in advising family-owned companies, corporations and financial investors on corporate finance transactions. In recent years, he has gained special expertise in the food service and travel retail sector. His broader focus is on real estate, industry and consumer goods/retail.

In 1996, after graduating from Free University of Berlin in Economics, Gerd started his career with Schröder Münchmeyer Hengst & Co’s corporate finance subsidiary, which was acquired by Dresdner Kleinwort Benson in 1997. He moved to Deutsche Bank AG in 2001 where he advised listed corporations and private family-owned companies on complex M&A and capital market transactions. Gerd then joined Lehman Brothers in 2005 and has, since 2007, been concentrating on advising family-owned companies, entrepreneurs and financial investors on corporate finance transactions. He is also an active partner in a medium-sized private equity fund.
