Arndt Rautenberg is the founder and Managing Partner of Rautenberg Moritz & Co. He has long-standing experience in advising financial investors and their portfolios, but also mid-size companies and corporations. His special expertise is in transactions and in corporate finance as well as in strategy development and implementation.
He started his professional career in 1994 at Boston Consulting Group, having completed his studies of business administration at WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management and at Georgetown University. In 2000, he founded a technology investment and consulting firm together with two partners, which he later successfully sold to Sapient Corp., a NASDAQ-listed technology corporation based in Cambridge, USA. After several years as a board member of Sapient, Arndt Rautenberg was appointed Chief Strategy Officer of Deutsche Telekom, where he was responsible for both the group’s strategy development as well as the portfolio management. Since leaving in 2008, Arndt Rautenberg has placed his emphasis on consulting financial investors and mid-size companies.
Jens Moritz is co-founder, Managing Partner and heads the Frankfurt office of Rautenberg Moritz & Co. He is a very seasoned Private Equity professional and has many years of experience in all phases of the principal investing business – from executing buyouts and minority investments to the development of portfolio companies and the structuring and management of successful exits.
After his studies of business administration at Philipps University in Marburg, Jens Moritz started his professional career in 1995 with Coopers & Lybrand’s / PwC in the firm’s auditing arm. In 1999, he moved on to Private Equity and joined BdW Beteiligungsgesellschaft für die deutsche Wirtschaft (Dresdner Bank Group). After several successful years with the private equity arms of two regional state banks (“Landesbanken”), he joined EQT Partners where he was active for over six years. For EQT, he led their Frankfurt office and was the partner in charge of the German, Austrian and Swiss activities of the firm’s expansion capital fund, until moving over to Rautenberg Moritz & Co. in April 2014.
Philipp Hochberg is Managing Partner at Rautenberg Moritz & Co. For more than 20 years he has advised family-owned companies and their shareholders, private equity houses, entrepreneurs and managers on M&A transactions and financings. His major focus is on transactions in the industrial sector (machinery and equipment, industrial goods) as well as in consumer goods and retail.
Philipp holds a graduate degree in economics from the University of Bonn. Alongside his studies in economics, he also studied political science and historical science. As advisor to principals, Philipp Hochberg was always an entrepreneur himself: For more than 12 years, Philipp Hochberg was shareholder and Managing Partner of C H Reynolds Corporate Finance, which he established in the German M&A market together with his co-founders. Earlier positions in his career were with Doertenbach & Co. in Frankfurt from 1997 to 1999 and before that with Ernst & Young in Berlin.
Gero Steinröder is a Partner in our Düsseldorf office. He has deep expertise in developing and executing growth oriented value creation initiatives as well as strategic transformations for both smaller companies (incl. start-ups) and larger corporations.
Gero studied engineering and business administration at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Queen‘s University (Canada) and the Asian Institute of Technology (Thailand). In addition he holds an MBA with distinction from the Kellogg School of Management (USA). Gero started his professional career as a strategy consultant with Booz Allen Hamilton, mainly advising clients from the telco, media, high tech and digital industry. He then joined Nokia Venture Organisation to successfully grow a mobile internet venture, before ramping up the newly created Nokia Consumer Data & Analytics function. After co-founding Numerus Capital, a private, quantitative hedge fund, he joined Rautenberg Moritz & Co. in 2015, where he predominantly advises technology clients on strategic and financing topics as well as in transactions.
Gerd Bassewitz is Senior Advisor to Rautenberg Moritz & Co. He has many years of experience in advising family-owned companies, corporates and financial investors on corporate finance transactions. In recent years, he has gained special expertise and clients in the food service and travel retail sector. His broader focus is on real estate, industry and consumer goods/retail.
After studying economics at the Free University of Berlin and Würzburg and a study visit to England, his first professional positions were with Schröder Münchmeyer Hengst & Co.'s corporate finance subsidiary and Dresdner Kleinwort Benson. In 2001, he moved to the Investment Banking department of Deutsche Bank AG, where he advised listed corporates and private family companies on complex M&A and capital market transactions. He then joined Lehman Brothers in 2005, where he advised companies with a wide range of investment banking services. Since 2007, Gerd Bassewitz has been concentrating on advising family-owned companies, entrepreneurs and financial investors, from 2012 to early 2018 under the name of Bassewitz & Hochberg. He is also an active partner in a medium-sized private equity fund.
